Power Mobility Driving Training
Power mobility driving training may be important to support individuals in optimizing their driving skills in their environments of choice. Power mobility driving training can also assist people in becoming more comfortable with their power device and reduce the risk of crashes. We encourage therapists to consider the driver, environment and the types of tasks or occupations the driver engages in when planning driving training. Providing training to new drivers has the potential to optimize performance, encourage functional mobility, and improve safety.
Our team has done limited research on power-mobility training, thus, we hope our pilot research will encourage further work in this area and be of interest to clinicians.
